Abiding Path, LLC is a dedicated mental health residential facility for youth in North Carolina. We provide a supportive, home-like environment where young individuals receive comprehensive care to develop essential life skills, manage their mental health, and prepare for independent living.

Responsibilities and Duties
The Qualified Professional (QP) provides vital clinical oversight, comprehensive program management, and staff supervision. This role requires being on-call to ensure consistent adherence to agency policies, procedures, and program delivery.
  • Clinical Oversight & Client Care:
    • Provide direct clinical oversight for the assigned home.
    • Review and approve all intake services, admission plans, and discharge plans for residents and their families.
    • Review all assessments and required documentation for new admissions.
    • Develop and approve each resident's Personal Care Plan in collaboration with their treatment team.
    • Evaluate goal progress and complete monthly progress notes for client records.
    • Schedule and participate in team meetings with residents' treatment team members, including family, guardians, day program staff, case managers, and other relevant individuals.
    • Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed for residents' continuation of financial benefits (e.g., Social Security).
    • Act as a primary liaison between the agency and parents/guardians regarding clinical care.
  • Program & Operational Management:
    • Ensure the group home operates in full compliance with all North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) regulations and Rule as well as Abiding Path’s Policies and Procedures.
    • Oversee operational planning and management for the home.
    • Act as a spokesperson for Abiding Path, LLC and represent the organization at community activities to enhance its profile.
    • Ensure that all programs and services offered contribute directly to Abiding Path, LLC's mission and reflect the priorities set by the Director.
    • Report incidents as required by AP Policies and Procedures.
    • Participate in regulatory surveys and reviews (e.g., Health and Fire inspections), scheduling annual inspections prior to license application.
  • Staff Supervision & Development:
    • Develop a comprehensive supervisory plan and provide regular (monthly) supervision to supervised employees, maintaining documentation of supervision.
    • Review all staff documentation (e.g., in resident records, personnel files) to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
    • Complete 90-day and annual performance evaluations for all staff under supervision.
    • Provide initial and annual required training to Direct Care Staff, House Managers, and Administrative Assistants, ensuring all training is scheduled and completed before expiration dates to maintain state compliance.
    • Hire and, when necessary, dismiss staff.
    • Coordinate personnel management, including training new staff, conducting performance reviews, fostering teamwork, facilitating staff meetings, assisting in creating job descriptions, delegating tasks, encouraging effective communication, and implementing grievance procedures.
  • Administrative & Crisis Response:
    • Act as the primary on-call contact to ensure agency policies, procedures, and programs are delivered appropriately, especially during emergencies.
    • Handle emergency situations appropriately, utilizing crisis interventions when necessary, following Abiding Path, LLC policies and procedures.
    • Provide support to the Board of Directors by preparing meeting agendas and supporting materials.
    • Attend and participate in quarterly meetings, including peer review, compliance updates, administrative updates, and staff enrichment.
    • Actively show initiative and motivation to learn.

Day-to-Day Activities
As QP, your days will be diverse, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on clinical and operational tasks. You'll regularly review client records, provide supervision to staff, and participate in team meetings to ensure integrated care. You'll be involved in intake and discharge planning, ensuring seamless transitions for youth. Expect to engage in ongoing staff training, maintain compliance with state regulations, and be prepared to respond to any urgent situations that arise in the home, acting as a critical resource for both staff and clients.

Reporting Structure
The Qualified Professional (QP) reports directly to the Director of Abiding Path, LLC. This position is central to both the clinical integrity and operational excellence of the residential facility.

Qualifications
Candidates for the Qualified Professional (QP) position at Abiding Path, LLC must meet the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) requirements for a "Qualified Professional" within the mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services (MH/DD/SAS) system of care. This includes demonstrating competence in technical knowledge, cultural awareness, analytical skills, decision-making, interpersonal skills, communication skills, and clinical skills.
Specific pathways to meeting the "Qualified Professional" definition include:
  • Licensed Professional: Holds a license, provisional license, or certificate issued by a governing board regulating a human service profession (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist).
    • Registered Nurse (RN): Must be licensed to practice in North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing AND have four years of full-time accumulated experience in MH/DD/SA with the population served.
  • Master's Degree: Graduate of a college or university with a Master's degree in a human service field AND has one year of full-time, pre- or post-graduate degree accumulated supervised MH/DD/SA experience with the population served.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Human Service Field): Graduate of a college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a human service field AND has two years of full-time, pre- or post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised MH/DD/SA experience with the population served.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Other Field): Graduate of a college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a field other than human services AND has four years of full-time, pre- or post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised MH/DD/SA experience with the population served.
Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Age: Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Driving: Valid North Carolina Driver's License with an excellent driving record, and current auto insurance. Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check.
  • Background Check: Ability to pass a criminal background clearance (BCI Check).
  • Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
